The first thing you need for the perfect Christmas gift basket is a good basket. The size makes a difference as to your budget because a large basket has to be filled with lots of stuff and can make or break your pocketbook depending on how many baskets you are going to make.
It is always easy and fun to fill your baskets with food. It is also a great filler to go around other items. Actually, food Christmas gift baskets are the easiest to make. There are no criteria as to whether you have to make or buy your food. Again, this depends on your wallet and your time.
Homemade goodies are always appreciated by anyone because in this day and age it is a pleasure to know that someone has gone to the time to bake something for you. Homemade cookies, bread, candy and peanut brittle all make great goodies for your baskets. Throw in a bottle of wine or cocoa mixes and a mug and your basket is done. Tie a pretty ribbon on it and maybe a card and your Christmas gift basket is complete.
Boxes
Pretty and unique boxes can also be used as a Christmas gift basket. Just because the word basket is in there doesn’t mean your basket has to actually be a basket. Leaving the box open or without a lid will make it a Christmas gift basket.
Put some interesting paper grass or filler in the bottom and put in a lovely Christmas ornament, Christmas cookie mix, a cute ceramic Santa and a few icicles with a pretty Christmas card and bow and you have a beautiful Christmas gift basket. A smaller box with fewer items will fit nicely into a budget that has a long list of people to make baskets for.
