One of the latest iPod accessories to hit the market is the iPod remote control. The iPod remote lets you operate your music gadget from across your home or even in another room. Especially if your iPod music is streaming through your stereo or your gadget is connected to your iPod speaker system, an iPod remote can be very helpful since you don’t have to go through the hassle of manually switching tracks and play lists. Whether you are curling up in your bed or lounging around in your backyard, you can access your iPod music collection conveniently with just a click of this handy device. An iPod remote control provides versatility when it comes to operating your iPod as with your other larger sized audio systems as well.

An iPod remote comes into two types namely infrared (IR) and radio frequency (RF). The infrared remote is similar to a TV remote control, in which you should be in the same room to run your iPod. On the other hand, a radio frequency remote control works like a radio, which let you switch music tracks from a few rooms or in some cases, even in your backyard.

There are many different brands of iPod remote control devices that you can choose from. Some of which include ABT, Advanced Technetix, Alive-Style, Belkin, Scosche, Digital Lifestyle Outfitters, Engineered Audio, Keyspan, Maxell, Monster, Nyko Technologies, Targus, TenTechnology and Up/beat Audio.

Scosche’s iPod and nano RF sport remote control sports a cool design in which you can wear it on your wrist and are great for those on the go. It has a 150 ft range, excellent for sporting activities as well as for other uses outdoors. Also, there is Belkin’s SportCommand, a wireless device that you can strap in your arm and you are good to go. It also has excellent durability that can withstand different types of weather conditions and is excellent for extreme outdoor activities such as mountain biking, snowboarding and others.

AliveStyle’s Popalive wireless iPod remote control also allows you to directly view and browse through your music collection on its built-in color screen. This bi-directional radio frequency device allows you to control your music through ceilings, walls and even floors. The PopAlive iPod remote can work well with fourth and fifth generation iPods.

On the other hand, those who want to go for an infrared iPod remote can go for Digital Lifestyle Outfitter’s iDirect. This device is great to use for older iPod versions and can work with iPod minis as well. The iDirect comes with a size that can comfortably fit inside your pocket and can fit all docking iPods too.

Yet there are still plenty more. With an iPod remote, you can be more in control with your music.
