Jewelry style is usually strictly a matter of preference, but that preference should be decided upon according the size and shape of the face and body. Some jewelry is just more flattering than other jewelry, depending upon the shape of the face and the size of the body.
Earrings: Earrings should be chosen according to the shape of the face. Face shapes are described as; oval, rectangle, round, heart, and square. An oval-shaped face can be enhanced by almost any shape earrings, but faces of other shapes are better complemented by contrasting shaped earrings. For example, a square face is more complemented by round-shaped earrings.
Necklaces: The size and length of a necklace should be based upon the size and the height of the woman who will wear it. The rule is larger and longer = larger and smaller = smaller and shorter. A tiny little delicate necklace would be lost on a tall or large-framed woman, while a large and long necklace on a short, small woman would make her look weighted down.
Bracelets: The same considerations should be made about bracelets as about necklaces. Large women should wear large bracelets and small women should wear small bracelets.
Rings: Rings should be chosen according to the size and shape of the fingers. A ring should never cover the knuckle. Large rings will make the fingers look shorter than they are. Shorter fingers benefit from oval settings, while longer fingers look best with wide bands or simple, round settings.
There are many things to consider when purchasing a piece of jewelry that costs more than a hamburger and fries. You want the jewelry to complement you. You don’t want it to be too large, too small, or the wrong shape.
