How To Make Tofu Dessert At Home

If you do a quick online search you can find many different recipes for tofu dessert. From tofu ice cream to tofu fritters almost any dessert out there can incorporate tofu. I am going to take a look at a recipe that I have tried and had success with so that you can incorporate a healthy tofu dessert into your family’s meals.

Cranberry Tofu Dessert Recipe

This cranberry tofu dessert is one that my kids love. It is packed full of flavor and the tofu adds a nice creamy texture to the dessert. There are several steps and ingredients to this tofu dessert which I will detail below. The following is a list of what is required to make a cranberry tofu dessert:

1/4 cup flour
2 tablespoons unsweetened orange juice
1 (10 ounce) package “slice and bake” sugar cookie dough
1 (10 ounce) package light silken tofu, extra firm
3 cups fresh cranberries
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
1/4 cup water
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch

Find a nice clean work area to start on. If you have a cutting board for baking this will work perfectly. Flour the work surface then roll out the chilled sugar cookie dough to about an eight of an inch thick. Take your rolling pin and roll the dough out to eleven inches in diameter then place this in a spring form pan. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees and bake for twelve to fourteen minutes. Set aside to cool.

Next combine the cranberries, the sugar, water, cornstarch and orange juice in a medium saucepan. Stir all the ingredients up and bring them to a boil for one minute. Remove this from the heat and let it cool. Drain the tofu then wrap it in a paper towel to remove the excess water. Cut up and place in a food processor or blending. Blend silken tofu, vanilla extract, almond extract and the sugar. Continue blending until smooth. Spread this over the cookie dough crust then arrange the cooled cranberry sauce on top. Set in the fridge and let cool, cut and serve.

This recipe will serve around 12 people and is a delicious and nutritious tofu dessert that will have even the most finicky eaters coming back for more. The beauty of this dessert is that it is completely lactose free, extremely healthy, and can be served in almost any situation. The key is to blend the tofu as smooth as possible so that you can serve this at any occasion without compromising flavor. I hope this recipe has opened your eyes to the possibilities of using tofu.
