Whether you are just starting out or you’re an experienced painter returning to the field, having a lesson on landscape watercolor painting is a good way to add a new dimension to your creations. Not only will you learn various painting techniques, but you will also learn an entirely new way of looking at the world around you.

What are some ways you can get a lesson on landscape watercolor painting? Some painters will argue that your best classroom is the landscape itself. There is nothing quite like painting from the source itself, whether you’re in the middle of a quiet forest or sprawling hills. It may seem silly, but once you’ve spent a few hours in your designated spot, you’ll see why this is a great way to learn more about the world around you. After all, subtle changes in the weather, sunlight, and scenery can greatly contribute toward teaching you more about everything from color theory to foreshortening.

However, the downside to getting a lesson on landscape watercolor painting out of doors is that there is always the chance of a sudden rain shower will come along and ruin all of your hard work. There is also the issue of insects or small twigs and leaves blowing onto your work. This is why you should always check the weather beforehand and ensure that the area you’re painting in is free of wind born debris.

If you want landscapes that are a bit more exotic than the ones you visit, try taking a class that offers a lesson on landscape watercolor painting. Not only will you receive lectures, tips, and critiques, but you may even find yourself going on some interesting field trips as you search for interesting content. Having a textbook on hand to reference different techniques and theories is also a distinct advantage.

If you’re stuck on one specific aspect of landscape painting, perhaps try a lesson on landscape watercolor painting from a DVD. There your process will be broken down to simple brush strokes and techniques, thus teaching you how to create realistic clouds, trees, water reflections, and more. While this isn’t quite as beneficial as a classroom environment, you do have the advantage of being able to rewind and rewatch the technique over and over again, allowing you an easier time at practicing.

These are only a few ways you can get a lesson on landscape watercolor painting. Learn more today about how you can add life and light to your paintings like never before.
