Thanksgiving Day dinner is great; I LOVE Thanksgiving Day dinner. But is that all there is? One day, one meal – is that it? I’ve been thinking about the question. The fact is each person can only eat Thanksgiving Day dinner once. You must CHOOSE who you will have Thanksgiving Day dinner with. That hardly seems fair.
I have lots of friends. Thanksgiving Day DINNER is reserved for family – but what about all of my friends? I’m thankful for them, too. So, last year I decided to throw a Thanksgiving PARTY for my friends.
I choose the Saturday before Thanksgiving as the day of my Thanksgiving party. I’d thought about Thanksgiving eve, but we’re all too busy preparing for Thanksgiving Day dinner then.
I found some beautiful invitation in the shape of a cornucopia and also small paper plates, cups, and napkins with the same design. Perfect! I decorated using a fall color scheme. That was perfect, too.
I served the usual cocktails, but I also found a recipe for great recipe for punch: Ingredients: 2 parts ginger ale 1 part rum 1 part apple cider
I mixed the punch and poured it into a hallowed-out pumpkin. (For a nonalcoholic version, simply substitute orange soda for the rum.)
I served some of the usual party finger foods, but I also included a Cookie Pumpkin Cookie dig and served it with ginger snaps. Here are the ingredients: 1 8-ounce package cream cheese, softened 2 cups confectioners sugar 1 15-ounce can of solid pack pumpkin 1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon 1 teaspoon frozen orange juice concentrate
Mix all of the ingredients together and refrigerate until you’re ready to serve.
All you need to turn a regular party into a Thanksgiving party is just a little imagination.
