Tips for Buying a Hidden Camera Smoke Detector

If you want to spy on someone in your own home, such as a souse you suspect may be cheating on you in your own bed, a smoke detector may be the best way to get the proof that you need. You can buy these devices with hidden cameras inside. They are common fixtures in homes, meaning it is easy to spy and record someone’s actions. With that said, don’t run right out and buy one with a hidden camera. There are some important points you will first want to take into consideration. What are they?

You need to have a good reason or excuse. If you want to catch a cheating spouse, you are installing a hidden camera in a home they are very familiar with. For example, if you haven’t had a smoke detector in your bedroom before or have had the same one for years, the new addition to the room may arise suspicions. Yes, most people don’t automatically think of smoke detectors and have hidden cameras come to mind, but you honestly never know. Those who have something to hide can be very smart and deceptive.

So, how do you solve this problem? If you haven’t had a smoke detector in your bedroom before, buy it, install it, and then point it out to your partner. Make sure it is installed in the ceiling or high in the walls. This way, you can simply just point and not worry about them inspecting it. If asked, just say you thought it would be a good idea to have an extra smoke detector in the home, for safety purposes. If you have used the same smoke detector for years, state it started making noises. At first, you thought the battery was running low, but a new battery didn’t help. Therefore, you purchased a new, working smoke detector.

You might assume that calling attention to this new smoke detector is a bad idea. Yes, it can be, but it all depends on how you play your cards. Remember, if you are spying on someone familiar with your home, they will notice anyways. The key is to keep the smoke detector up high so it cannot be inspected and to bring attention only to the smoke detector, not the hidden camera inside.

Next, it is important to choose a smoke detector that does not arouse suspicion. When viewing smoke detectors with hidden cameras online, you will find that they come in many different formats. Some look like normal smoke detectors and others have a base and then a portion that drops down a few inches. This portion is usually covered by black screen and it is where the camera is hidden. These smoke detectors are not like the kind sold at most retail stores. It is best to go with a modern and traditional design.

When examining hidden surveillance smoke detectors, you will find wireless and corded detectors. Wireless surveillance detectors are more expensive, but for most they are well worth the costs. Installation is easier and there are no cords. Yes, these cords can be hidden in any wall or ceiling, but you never know when they may fall into sight.

As an important safety note, most of these smoke detector cameras do not work. They are not functioning alarms. For that reason, be sure to have a working smoke detector nearby. For wireless surveillance, the battery is used to power the camera, not the actual alarm.

As always, there are some risks involved with using hidden cameras. For starters, use them in your own home and not for deceitful purposes. If you want to catch a cheating spouse, go right ahead, but be cautious of what is caught on camera, especially if you have children. Most states prohibit the use of hidden video surveillance and audio. You usually have to choose between one or the other. If at anytime, you decide to discontinue surveillance, like if you later learn your spouse was not cheating, be sure to remove the camera.

This is a cool idea, I doubt anyone would notice a camera there.
