Truly a world-wonder, the Grand Canyon is a spectacular sight to behold. With its astonishing array of adrenaline-pumping activities and exciting tours, this is one place that you shouldn’t miss in your travels.

When you visit the Grand Canyon, be prepared for mouth-watering views of this geological wonder, plus hot tours like river rafting, guided hiking, and bus riding around the ever popular South Rim, that are sure to awake the adventurer in you.

But first, let’s consider a few things first. Before you leave for some place, no matter how gorgeous or exciting that place is, you need to ask one all-important question – that is, the location.

Where is the Grand Canyon located? You know that it is located somewhere in the American continent. But where exactly? Is it in Central America? South America? The U.S.? Where?

Where is the Grand Canyon located depends entirely on which part of the Grand Canyon you want to visit. Or if you are not certain of which part is which, then where the Grand Canyon is located depends on what you intend to do once you’re there. Because the Grand Canyon is huge (hey, it isn’t called the “Grand” canyon for nothing!), it encompasses a vast territory, i.e. almost 200 miles long and approximately 10 to 15 miles wide.

If you are planning on hiking as your vacation’s highlight and you believe that the trails up at the Grand Canyon National Park look interesting, then the answer to the question “Where is the Grand Canyon located” is the state of Arizona, USA.

The Grand Canyon National Park is about 75 miles north of Flagstaff in northern Arizona. Moreover, if you decide during your vacation that you also want to visit the famous South Rim, it’s only about one hour and a half’s drive from Flagstaff. Said differently, it’s about five hours drive away from Las Vegas.

Or, if you are trying to visit the Canyon-Parashant National Monument, then the answer to the question “where is the Grand Canyon located” is still Arizona, but in the northwestern area – specifically to the north of Grand Canyon National Park and to the east of Nevada and the Lake Mead National Recreation Area.

Another excellent location to visit in the Grand Canyon is the North Rim where the hectic world seems to hold still long enough for the sun to peek from behind the ancient rocky plateau. To visit this area, the answer to the question “where is the Grand Canyon located” is Colorado.

At the Grand Canyon’s North Rim, the rock formations are more eroded and the sloping walls dipping more deeply, creating a magnificent view of the Colorado River below.
